One in two (or three) parts: six pairs of paintings and small sculptures

The resin/urethane forms are a product of antagonistic processes between toxic substances – substances that are nevertheless play as integral part of our everyday lives. (eg. They are the materials of the dashboard of our car.)

Created beyond much of the artist’s contrivance the process gives birth to new and ‘mutated’ forms eminently attuned to the contemporary, to the present, to our ‘predicament’.

The accompanying paintings are reproduced images of a long past era, albeit digitally manipulated and painted. Vanitas paintings that once touched on our mortality and the transience of life, have become the ‘nouveau vanitas’ but struggle now perhaps when we fail to appreciate that ‘predicament’.
