Can Cams 2024

I miss out on a lot of things. Here i have captured some of that.

I did so by cutting the top off an empty beer can, placed some photo-sensitive paper inside, sealed it up tightly, poked a hole in the side to let the light in and strapped it to something mostly stable outside. And then I forgot about it as i got on with some other common distraction.

When i come to the can again maybe a year has passed. The light and all which has occurred about the small hole, like adventures with an inquisitive bird, an insect or a storm it has withstood – all those sorts of things while i’ve been mucking about with other stuff, has marked the paper inside and this is their record.

I really don’t know whose business was the most important or interesting or whether any of such measures matter? Yet these stories, these mysteries, these bits of life i have overlooked, humble me and their image brings a native joy to my heart.

Its no ‘oil painting’, no Girl with a Pearl Earring, and for those stuckists its even ‘abstract’! But their look, and for the poetry in the way they have come about i see beauty.
