Rococozenism 2009

rocoCoZenism

Bill Sampson’s paint surfaces are undoubtedly gorgeous. In this latest exhibition, Bill takes his marbling technique to a new level of innovation and design utilising a new silky French vinyl.

Bill plays on the viewers’ assumptions of art being, meaning, and ways of seeing, only to subvert and subtly challenge their expectations. In a chance-ridden kaleidoscope of colour and pattern Bill playfully mixes the pop, the personal, the sensual and the mythical in an exhibition that proves to be truly    ‘rococo-zen’.

Bill’s is an unexpected and delightful aesthetic – one which crosses the boundaries between art, design and the surreal.
